The Insta360 Link 2C in white—Arctic White, to be more specific, is out now. Since Insta360 came up with a brand new color, I thought this would be the perfect chance to share my long-term thoughts on this webcam. Now if you’re looking for a full technical review, just watch my original Link 2C video. This video is more about my practical daily experiences with this webcam.

Unboxing

Look at that color—this is perfect for my studio.
It comes with a shiny silver plate and of course it latches on.
Let’s compare that to the regular black model. Now the black Insta360 is more industrial, while the white Insta360 is sleeker and more modern. I’d say both are great. It also comes with a manual and a Type-C to Type-C USB cable, along with a Type-A adapter.
What I love about the camera
Let’s talk about four reasons why I love to use the Insta360 Link 2C.
1. Reliability
As I’ve mentioned, the Link 2C has been my daily workhorse for a couple of months now and remains so. I’ve also taken out this Arctic White version for a spin for a couple of days now, put it through its paces, and it is a solid performer. It has not yet died on me, so I know I can trust it in crucial situations.
2. Simplicity
I actually own the Link 2, which is more advanced than the Link 2C. Image quality wise, they are the same except the Link 2 has a gimbal, and the Link 2C does not.

I actually prefer not to have a gimbal for everyday use. It just adds an extra element to think about, which is the auto-tracking, and it adds an extra point of failure. For instance, the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is a great camera, and I love it, but people have been reporting that its rotatable screen sometimes jams. So now you have a lot of people selling their Pocket 3s because they’re afraid that their screens will jam on them.
Now I’m not saying that the Link 2 is going to fail like the DJI—it’s a different product from a different company. If you value features, get the Link 2. But if you value peace of mind and longevity, get the Link 2C. It has fewer parts that could break.
3. Image quality
This is a 4K webcam, and as you can see, resolution matters. This webcam has a half-inch sensor. That means it can capture more light, it has more background blur, and overall, it just has better image quality.
When the Sony ZV-1 came out that became the baseline for what a YouTube quality video looked like—so that had a 1-inch sensor and the Insta360 has a half-inch sensor.
With the right lighting, the Link 2C’s quality is good enough for you to start a new YouTube channel and you can always upgrade later.
4. Audio
I love microphones and just improving my audio overall but when I’m on a meeting with people who aren’t voice actors, I don’t want to call attention to myself as that one guy with a microphone.
So I got on this Zoom meeting once and though I normally get a microphone and a webcam just to improve the overall professionalism, this time around all I did was grab the Link 2C. I put it on one of these selfie sticks, brought it closer and that improved both my video and audio quality in such a small package.
The fact that the microphone is omnidirectional also means I can relax without worrying too much about how far I am from the microphone. There are also different modes in the software to optimize that. The audio is already a significant improvement coming from a laptop mic.
Just as a bonus point, the 4K gives you versatility. What you’re seeing now is kind of the standard YouTube look but watch what happens when I zoom in 2 times and I move back and all of a sudden you have a different lens look or in the camera world we call this a different focal length.

“Standard YouTube look”

Zoomed in x2
Given this is 4K cropped in, this is more likely 1080p quality which is still very good for video calls. Maybe add a wireless microphone at this point to improve the audio and it’s going to be a very professional look.
Overall
I think the Insta360 Link 2C is an incredible value webcam for creators and professionals, now in Arctic White. Again I’m not getting paid to say this but this is currently my webcam of choice. It’s a webcam so good that it could be a creator’s first camera or it could be a dedicated video conferencing webcam or both.
