I’ve got my hands on two of the most exciting budget 4K webcams you can actually buy right now: the OBSBOT Meet 2 and the Insta360 Link 2C.
Both use a proper 1/2-inch sensor and shoot real 4K, but let’s see who is the superior webcam. Let’s find out in this webcam duel!
DISCLAIMER: OBSBOT did send me the Meet 2 for this versus video, but I should also note that Insta360 sent me the Link 2C for another video. Everything I say in this video are my thoughts only.
Round 1 – Weight
The OBSBOT Meet 2 weighs 71.8 g with the mount, 45 g without the mount, and 41 g without the cover.

Osbot Meet 2’s weight
Meanwhile, the Link 2C weighs 110 g as a full package, and the webcam itself is 45.7 g.

So the Meet 2 set is about 40 g lighter than the Link 2C set, which makes it more portable and safer. I’ve read horror stories about people putting the Link 2C on their laptop and having that much weight fall onto their keyboard. 40 g is about half the weight of a modern flagship phone, so that’s substantial. This round goes to the OBSBOT Meet 2.
Round 2 – Build Quality
They’re both made of some kind of hard plastic. The Meet 2 has metal threading, while the Link 2C’s threading is part of the mount. Overall, both are very well made. This round is a tie.

Round 3 – Image Quality

The image quality test is mainly about dynamic range – whether the webcams can show highlights and shadows properly. I set my studio light to 100%, which is very bright. Lower-quality webcams usually struggle and the highlights get washed out, but I was very impressed with how both the Meet 2 and the Link 2C captured every bit of detail in the highlights. Maybe the very brightest spots lose a tiny bit of detail, but you can barely tell.

4k resolution
For sharpness, both are tack-sharp in glorious 4K resolution. With default settings, the Link 2C renders a touch sharper, which actually isn’t my personal preference – it feels a bit like an over-sharpened Samsung phone – but objectively neither has a clear edge. This round is a tie.
Round 4 – Bokeh / Background Blur

First, natural bokeh: both have 1/2-inch sensors, so both deliver pleasing background blur – not quite DSLR level, but enough to separate you from the background if it’s far enough away.
For software blur, both are pretty decent at lower intensity.
The Meet 2 starts showing a transparent outline when you crank the blur up. The Link 2C gives more of a 3D-pop/green-screen look.
Both stay fairly consistent when the frame is simple, but add foreground objects or a busy background and the inconsistencies show up. Still, both are usable at lower settings. This round is a tie.
Round 5 – Chromatic Aberration
You can see a bit of purple fringing on the Earthworks Ethos with the OBSBOT Meet 2; that fringing is not present on the Link 2C.

Meanwhile, fringing isn’t present on the Link 2C.
So the Link 2C lens wins here. This round goes to the Insta360 Link 2C.
Round 6 – Tracking

The Link 2C’s tracking/cropping felt a bit jerky – one small move and it crops in aggressively. The OBSBOT Meet 2 is slower and smoother. I couldn’t find a setting to tame the Link 2C’s behavior, so I prefer the Meet 2’s tracking. This round goes to the OBSBOT Meet 2.
Round 7 – Autofocus

I’m a bit torn. The Meet 2 used to pulse back and forth a lot, but switching autofocus from “Face” to “Global” fixed it and made it much more usable. The Link 2C is at times, super snappy and reliable, but other times it took forever to autofocus. After the setting change, I give this round to the OBSBOT Meet 2.
Round 8 – Software

The Insta360 Link Controller and OBSBOT Center apps are very similar – basic sliders for brightness, contrast, exposure, color filters, background blur, zoom, etc. But in my two months of daily use, I always found the Insta360 Link Controller to be more dependable and crash-free. This round goes to the Link 2C.
Round 9 – Microphones

Link 2C’s microphone array
The Link 2C sounds substantially better and justifies the bigger microphone array on top. That makes the Link 2C a true 2-in-1 device – you improve both video and audio at the same time. Even though it’s bigger, the size difference feels negligible for the extra benefit. This round goes to the Link 2C.
Round 10 – Stuttering / Stability
I had to make a whole new category for this. The Osbot Meet 2 can get stuttery,it also becomes almost unusable the moment you enable its virtual webcam – massive lag city. The Link 2C adds a little lag with effects, but at least it stays usable. This round goes to the Insta360 Link 2C.

Round 11 – Thermals
Another new category. After 40 minutes of continuous 1080p recording in an air-conditioned 26 °C room, the Meet 2 got noticeably hotter than the Link 2C – hot enough that it temporarily refused to turn on until it cooled down. That’s a real drawback of the super-minimalist design. This round goes to the Insta360 Link 2C.
Round 12 – Price to Performance
At first I thought they’d be equal here – the Meet 2 is cheaper but lacks the mic array. But after seeing the reliability issues with the Meet 2 (overheating, software lag, etc.), even without the better audio I would still pay the extra for the Link 2C just to get a device that actually works consistently. As the saying goes, buy nice or buy twice. This round goes to the Insta360 Link 2C.
Round 13 – Low Light

Both performed really well in low light thanks to their large 1/2-inch sensors (possibly the exact same Sony sensor, but I could be wrong). This round is a draw.
Conclusion & Final Thoughts
The overall winner of this Webcam battle is the Insta360 Link 2C.
I want to thank OBSBOT for sending me the Meet 2 at no cost, they let me test the mic extensively for free. Same goes for Insta360.
OBSBOT really innovated with the Meet 2 – it’s a slick, tiny, great-looking device with excellent image quality. I hope they take this as constructive feedback, because I’m genuinely looking forward to future OBSBOT products.
